Since its establishment in 1982, Kideco has been on an exploration journey, marking its first commercial production milestone in 1993 with the application of open-pit mining methods. This approach enables the extraction of various coal seams, separated by interburden layers that are not overly thick. Additionally, Kideco excels in mining coal seams with diverse dip angles, ranging from gentle slopes to steep inclines.

In the larger geological context, the Kideco region is defined by a prominent geological structure, featuring elongated folding formations such as anticlines and synclines that extend from north to south and northeast to southwest. The primary coal-bearing formation in this area is the Warukin Formation.

The commitment to exploration remains steadfast, with an ongoing dedication to gaining precise geological insights and increasing geological confidence. This persistent effort highlights Kideco’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of geological data, crucial for ensuring operational sustainability and fostering sustained growth.
